Ballechin 18 Years 2003 Conquete

A peaty single malt from Edradour, distilled in 2003 and bottled at 54% as part of La Maison du Whisky's Conquête collection. Sourced from a single first-fill sherry cask, unchilled and uncolored, with a very limited run (c. 718 bottles). On the nose, peat takes center stage, with empyreumatic and oily notes that open to dark chocolate, licorice, honey, and floral hints. The palate is broad and silky, with mineral salinity and notes of smoke (bacon, ash), vanilla, and a touch of root (gentian). The finish is long, deep, and perfectly balanced between the smoke and the richness of the sherry.
